NORTH COUNTRY
OCTOBER 20

MARC PALMQUIST, cello
TB Source is pleased to sponsor this performance.
Sponsored by: Thunder Bay's Source
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart · Serenade No. 11, K.375
Harry Somers · North Country
Luigi Boccherini · Concerto for Violoncello, G. 482, B-flat major (Greutzmacher)
Franz Joseph Haydn · Symphony No. 102
Somers's suite paints a rugged musical picture of the vast semi-wilderness of Northern Ontario. TBSO Principal Cellist Marc Palmquist performs Boccherini's virtuosic cello concerto, and two classical masterpieces bookend the concert: Mozart's brilliant wind serenade and Haydn's inventive 102nd Symphony.

VOYAGE THROUGH TIME
FEBRUARY 23

KARINE BRETON, bassoon
Bedrich Smetana · Dr. Faust Overture
Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky · Serenade for Strings, Op. 48
Marjan Mozetich · Concerto for Bassoon and String Orchestra with Marimba
Carl Maria von Weber · Symphony No. 1, Op. 19
From Smetana to von Weber, the works on this program are at once a salute to the past and a look towards the future. The melodies and the harmonies break the barriers of their time while providing a soothing feeling from earlier times. TBSO Bassoonist Karine Breton offers an introspective performance of Canadian composer Mozetich's bassoon concerto.
